01 — What I help with

Most projects start with a problem, not a tech stack.

Tell me what’s slow, manual, or broken. These are the problems I’m usually brought in to solve.

  1. 01

Take repetitive work off your team

Data entry, copying between apps, the report someone rebuilds every Monday. I automate the steps that don’t need a person.

    Automation
  2. 02

Connect the systems you already use

Your CRM, scheduling, invoicing, and forms should share information. I build the integrations and webhooks that keep records in sync.

  3. 03

Build tools around how you actually work

When off-the-shelf software forces a workaround, a small custom app like an internal dashboard, client portal, or quoting tool is often simpler.

  4. 04

    Improve the website you have

Faster pages, a clearer offer, forms that reach the right inbox, and local search that brings in the right calls. Sometimes that’s a rebuild. Often it isn’t.

    Websites Local search
  5. 05

Turn an idea into working software

If you have a product idea, I’ll help you scope the smallest useful version and build it. That’s how InsightQue and NoSiteFinder started.

  6. 06

Use AI where it actually helps

Drafting, sorting, summarizing, pulling data out of documents. I use AI models where they save real time, and I’ll tell you when they won’t.

02 — Selected work

Things I’ve built and shipped.

Two products of my own, an integration for a client, and websites for local businesses. No invented metrics, just what was built and why.

03 — How I work

A simple process, run by the person writing the code.

  1. Step 01

    Tell me what’s going on

Send a short note about how things work today and what’s slow or breaking. No spec required.

  2. Step 02

    Get a written plan

I reply with a short plan: what I’d build first, what can wait, and a straight answer on whether I’m the right fit.

  3. Step 03

    Build the first piece

We agree on a specific first build before work starts, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

  4. Step 04

    Launch, then adjust

I test the forms, flows, and integrations before go-live, then refine based on how it’s actually used.

04 — About

Hi, I’m Damon.

I’m a software engineer in the Pittsburgh area with a background in application security. I’ve spent years building software that has to work reliably, and now I put that to work for small businesses.

Most people who contact me aren’t asking for a particular technology. They have a process eating hours every week, tools that don’t talk to each other, or a website that isn’t pulling its weight. I like finding the simplest thing that fixes it, then building it properly.

When I’m not building for clients, I’m working on my own products, which keeps me close to the same problems my clients have.

Based in
Pittsburgh, PA. Working with clients anywhere.
Background
Software engineering and application security
Builds with
Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, Playwright, and AI APIs
Works with
Small and mid-sized businesses, service companies, and founders
How
Directly. No account managers or handoffs.

05 — Questions

Straight answers.

What kinds of businesses do you work with?

Mostly small and mid-sized businesses: service companies, local shops, and founders with a product idea. A lot of the work is in the Pittsburgh area, but nearly all of it can be done remotely.

Will I be working with you or a team?

With me. I scope the work, write the code, and answer your emails. There’s no account manager in between.

Do I have to replace what I already use?

Usually not. Often the most useful work is connecting or fixing the tools you already have. If a rebuild is worth it, I’ll explain why.

Do I need a detailed spec before we talk?

No. A few sentences about what’s slow, manual, or broken is enough to start. Working out the details is part of the job.

How does a project start?

Send a note from Start a project. You get a short written plan — what I’d build first — or a clear “not a fit.” If we both want to continue, we agree on a specific first build before any work starts.

Tell me what’s slowing your business down.

A few sentences is enough. I’ll read it myself and reply with a short plan, or tell you honestly if I’m not the right fit.
